Work is an essential component of most people’s daily life. After completing classroom activities, most people like being engaged in activities that their colleagues are doing. Since most applicants of I-O psychology course will neither be active researchers nor practitioners of the I-O physiology course, high chances are they will end up being consumers of I-O research results and will be exposed to the concepts of this course by interacting with other psychological consultants and other individuals depending with their job positions and operations. As a result, the I-O psychology course can be beneficial to me in two ways.
First, the course can enable me to understand workplace experiences. Since some students are exposed to work environments during their studies, they tend to suit their new positions well. Although the course does not elaborate on the emotional experiences, it provides learners with an extended perspective of understanding the practices and policies to expect at workplaces. As a result, the course will provide me with appropriate resources that can help me to determine whether the human resource policies being implemented in my organization are practical, up-to-date, or tested.
Another beneficial impact of the I-O course is that I might be tasked with the role of managing others at work in the future. As a result, I will be required to develop organizational policies that others will rely on within the organization. However, the lessons learned in this course will provide me with a good foundation for developing and employing appropriate work policies. This aspect is primarily based on the fact that the I-O course applies the outcome of scientific studies to real-world scenarios.
