Child development centers play a significant role in the society in helping a child with
developmental disorders, which include delayed milestones, cerebral palsy, epilepsy,
stammering, and mental retardation, among others. As a director of a child development center, I
am mandated to educate the society on how to identify and seek help whenever they suspect that
a child has a developmental problem so that the necessary care can be provided and help the
child have a better life. Full recovery is not a guarantee, and due to that fact, I am required to
help parents and guardians know how to cope with the condition.
To educate the society, I decided to hold a seminar that will run half a day not to
inconvenience the guest speaker but also my staff members. The date would be 1st December
2019 at the California Child Development Center. The parents and guardians will also be invited
and will be expected to pay a fee that will be put on the notice board, which will cater for some
expenses. There will be lunch not only for the guest speaker but also for all those who will attend
the seminar. However, those who will be attending will be requested to have writing material
with them so that they can note down essential issues from the guest speaker. All the staff will
have to attend the workshop as it will improve their service delivery. For the parents, it will be an
option since there are few spaces left for them.
The source for the workshop will be California Early Childhood Online. The source has
15 modules for study, which are equivalent to 17 hours, and it is available in both Spanish and
English. The guest speaker about the source will address the support needed for required early
childhood. The teachers need to be supported in various ways for them to deliver the services
necessary for society in an efficient manner (California Early Childhood). The California Early
Childhood Learning provides a development system that entails an integrated set of resources
based on the state of art information, which sheds more light on best practices and development
in early education.
Teachers for early childhood will need all the knowledge in this source since they will get
involved in a field that is demanding, which entails taking care of children who might be having
diverse conditions with some having health implications. The need for the workshop and inviting
a guest speaker with years of experience in offering care to children with a wide range of
developmental issues was because children in their early stages need a lot of care. Children,
when they are young, might not know what they are suffering from and might engage in
activities that will make their situation worse than it was. Due to this fact, the teacher has to be
trained on how to make the child aware of their condition in a manner that will not traumatize
them but instead encourage them to be more careful with themselves and avoid risks or putting
other children with different health condition at risk.
The parents and guardians will also be invited to learn and develop skills on how to best
respond when a child shows signs that call for immediate action. They will be taught on some of
the ways they can use to offer help as they wait for a specialized person. Such knowledge will
help a significant role in providing care both at the center and at home when these children are
with their families.
