Parents, at some particular times, question why the child, at times, exhibits behaviors
that are new or completely different. The cause of such exhibitions could be stress. Children
are always affected by what adults can, at times, refer to as “little things.” Various changes,
such as eating habits, bad dreams, and increased separation from parents and teachers,
contribute highly to the stress that the children develop. The case of Katrina’s Children is an
exhibition and an illustration of how the factors mentioned above are great contributors to the
disturbances of the young children- This article will highlight the various ways in which the
tragedy affected the young people who were involved.
In the year 2005, hurricanes of Katrina and Rita compelled several Children to relocate
across the Southeast. Much as the schools enrolled evacuees and received the families, the
influx of the evacuees increased reduced the elementary schools significantly. The exposure
pf some children to undisciplined evacuees resulted in absenteeism and disciplinary problems,
thereby supporting lousy behavior. Stress places quite a several demands, which mainly come
from outside sources. These demands are such as; jobs, friends, and school. Many kids require
enough playtimes, and as they grow older, social pressure builds-
In the video, several children did not overcome the effects of the hurricane. The fears
and the anxieties developed, and until adulthood, some children never mastered the concerns,
and their worries remained. Such children must be taken through recovery therapy to ensure
that they overcome entirely the stressful events and scenes they witnessed as some lost their
parents and guardians in the process.
