It is 1787, we have a good constitution but there are some issues that need to be addressed to
ensure that the rights of the people are respected and that they live comfortable lives. We are
in the constitutional convention in Philadelphia looking at ways that we can use to ensure that
the clauses on the bill of rights are well addressed. There are several issues that we have
noted and they include the fact that the people are not free to talk and express themselves the
way they should. The people in the United States of America also do not have freedom of
worship as the state influences the religion that the people subscribe to in the country. I am
well convinced that this is not the right thing to do because the freedom of speech and
expression should be guaranteed and the people in the country should have the freedom of
worship. The freedom of the press is always curtailed in such a way that the people of the
United States of America are denied the right to information that they are entitled to. The
government also restricts people from assembling to address the issues that affect them in the
society and in their life in general. People have some grievances that are supposed to be
addressed but the government has made it harder for the people to forward their grievances so
that they can be handled in the best way possible. I therefore propose ten amendments to the
constitutions that will also be referred to as the bill of rights that will address the issues that I
have identified above.
In my proposed amendment, the people should have the freedom to speak and express
themselves because that is how they will be heard and it is one of the ways that can be used
by the people to address the issues that they face in their lives. They should have the freedom
to speak to the press, to speak to the government and their fellow civilians. The freedom of
speech should also coincide with the freedom of the press because people use the press to
communicate to the authorities and the latter uses the same press to communicate to the
former. The government should also allow the speech that criticizes them because that is the
only way they can meet the demands of the people in the United States of America. I am also
proposing an amendment that will ensure that the people freely exercise the religion of their
choice. The government or any authority should not force anyone to subscribe to any religion
but all the people in the United States of America should be allowed to practice the religion
of their choice.
The other amendment is concerned with giving the people the freedom of petition and
assembly that will enable the people in the society to air their grievances so that the
government can deal with them. There are cases where the people are not happy with the way
the government is treating them and in such a case, the people should be allowed to protest in
a peaceful manner for the government to hear them and deal with the issues that they bring
forward. The freedom of petition and assembly will also allow all the people in the United
States of America to know their rights and therefore fight for them appropriately both for
their benefit and for the benefit of the society in general. The freedom of assembly will also
be important because it will aid the citizens of the United States of America to choose good
leaders who will represent them in the country.
There are some exceptions in the rights that are being presented in this amendment. The
people should be prevented from giving speeches that are aimed at defaming the people.
They should also be prevented from sharing obscene information in the name of freedom of
speech. My hope is that the amendment will be used to improve the lives of the people in the
society. Freedom of speech should not mean that people are allowed to disrespect authority
and harm the other people. The misuse of the freedom of speech should be an offense that
will attract punishment. The main aim of this amendment is to ensure that all the people in
the society lead good and happy lives that will help them work hard to develop their country
as well as live in peace and harmony with the other people.
