Culture and Health
Culture is a set of social beliefs, norms and customary forms of a social, religious or
racial group that are important for the identity of these people. a good example of how culture
affects health is the use of Chinese traditional medicine to cure some health conditions. Some
people in Asian believe in body piercing and according to their culture.
Household income affects the health o a person since it determines the people who afford
some kinds of medical attention. Some diseases require specialized treatments and poor people
cannot afford this. Education impacts on health in such a way that when people are learned, they
know how to navigate the differences between culture and health and exposes people to the need
for good healthcare. Occupation brings a difference in people’s nature of life and exposure to
different disease causing problems.
Poverty is a state of people not able to meet their needs. Poor people cannot afford good
education and other economic obligations. People living in poverty in USA and people living in
poverty in other low-income country are not able to access essential requirements such as
healthcare, education and good shelter.
