One of the most critical and difficult activities of a manager is to determine how
companies evaluate their strategy. The activity is intensive and, in most instances, requires the
help of consultants and experts.
The companies analyze the industry and their competitors. The company first outlines
their characteristics regarding their growth rates, term fragmentation and critically analyze a few
major competitors to determine where they stand. They can then define both their role and the
role of their competitor either as trendsetters’ low-cost leaders or the aspirations
The companies also perform capabilities of the business analysis. It is usually done using
the SWOT Analysis that lists the company’s strengths weaknesses, threats, and opportunities.
They are numbered in order of priorities (Marzec, 2017). The other approach is the direct
assessment of the company’s strategic approach. The company determines how well they are
implementing the approach and monitor how it is performing overall. The final approach that
companies might use is performing the gap analysis between the company competencies and the
opportunities that are available in the market (Marzec, 2017). They can make a list of each
opportunity and what they have done.
Evaluating HR Implementations
Evaluating the HR implementation can be done by critically evaluating the HR
operations. Most companies evaluate their HR implementations using static measurements that
vary using statistical measures. Most companies settle on using them and evaluating the average
time that HR departments take to recruit or employ a replacement. The companies also assess
the average cost to recruit an individual per position (Nedushan, 2018). They also determine the
cycle time from the job acceptance to when they begin, the new retention rate and the levels of
the recommended job applications.
The businesses also evaluate how the HR implication is aligned to the strategic business
moves. How the employees’ culture is focused on achieving business goals. Most companies
also determine the employee’s motivation and how loyal they are to the company by determining
their number of years they have been working with the company.
