Food and family
Keeping a family together is one of the most challenging tasks that many people have to do in the world. One of the most important ways of ensuring that the family is knitted together is developing unity among the people and ensuring that they are united in purpose. Some even go to the extent of wearing clothes of the same color during functions as a way of identifying themselves. Some families manage their businesses together which makes them be together most of the time. One of the best ways of ensuring that the families bond effectively is by eating together. This paper addresses how food can foster family unity and ensure that the member of the family is able to bond effectively (Gibbs and Carolina, 50).
Thesis statement: Eating together ensures bonding in the family which helps them to grow in love and unity. I agree that families should make meals together and even eat together because it is one of the most effective ways that they can bond and grow together in peace love and unity. The joy of the family cooking together fosters unity that will help them in dealing with the challenges in life.
Eating together helps the parents to monitor the feeding habits of their children hence they can guide them appropriately. Children will only grow into healthy adults when they have better feeding habits that include eating healthy. When a family eats together, the parents can monitor the feeding habits of the children hence they may seek to stop them or maintain them. For instance, a child may like eating the junk foods which are not healthy for him or her. Eating together will, therefore, help a family in ensuring that all the children eat. It is therefore important to create emphasis on eating together being part of the family routine because it can help in removing the feeding habits that may cause nutrition among the children in the family. The adults also tend to have bad eating habits, and the family will help them deal with the problem (Jennifer Chung Kinsights.com (TNS)).
Eating together as a family is also beneficial because it ensures the emotional stability of the children. Most of the teens who infrequently eat in their homes are likely to take alcohol in their lives because the parents are not able to monitor them. The parents can note any problems that a child has during meals time since most of the issues that trouble individuals lead to the loss of appetite. In the case where a person is not able to eat properly, it means that there are issues that are troubling him or her that need attention. Therefore it is essential for the families to eat together because it enables the monitoring of behavior among the members of the family. Emotional stability a prerequisite of success in the family and the success of the members in the other spheres of life (Jennifer Chung Kinsights.com (TNS)).
Eating together also contributes to the stability of a given family. It enhanced togetherness hence improves communication among the members. A family that eats together is more united than the one that does not hence. Creating a united family is the goal of all the parents. A family that eats together with their staff relates better, and that improves the working morale of the employees. The fact that it can create unity among people that are not related means that it can do more for a family that is biologically related. Most of the families that go through wrangles in the society do not eat together, or they lack a common agenda and a common action that brings them together (Aarseth & Olsen, 2008). Eating together makes the family be aware of the food that each of the members likes. The best thing is to ensure that the favorite food of each member is recognized in the family menu so that all of them feel appreciated in the family. It is dangerous to make one of the members of the family feel not present in the family meals because that is one of how the family bond grows stronger for the benefit of all the members (Flounders, 18).
In conclusion, feeding together has many advantages that can never be overlooked or ignored. Most of the people if not all want to have a united family that can overcome many challenges and stays together at all times. The parents, children and the other members of the family have individual roles to play to ensure that they are united. One of the areas to be emphasized is eating together since most of the families are brought together by meals. Sometimes the meal time is the only time that the families are meeting. It is after meals that the people can voice concerns regarding the issues that they are facing.
