The study attempts to understand the role that identity and normativity play in the sequences of
action through the broad study of the category accounts. The author attempts to explain how the
category accounts tap into and make use of the massive assumptions about identities and the
categories in membership to explain away the moments that the participants tend to refer to as
category deviance. The hypothesis in the study is that the category accounts play an important
role in the interaction.
Research methodologies that the researcher used
The author focuses on the sequences at which the speakers initiate repair are used to
indicate a problem in understanding. The author employed phonology in the study. The
research was also related to sociology indicating that communication is the best way in
which the people socialize in the society and the fact that it is important because it
improves the lives of the people in the society. The researchers, therefore, used
experiments in finding out the results.
The main findings
The results noted that category accounts play an important role in the interaction. According to
the research that was conducted, the initiation of repair that is done by the people treats
divergence as a from the gender or sexuality norm. This is shown when they bring the category
and in so doing, they allow for the resumption of progressivity hence closing the repair sequence.
The main point
If I were to meet the author, I would ask him to find out why there are different personalities and
what can be done to deal with it and to ensure that the communication process among the people
is improved for the benefit of the society.
