Our text provides us with five key elements that make the current business landscape different
from those of the past. These five elements are globalization, technological change, the
importance of knowledge and ideas, collaboration across organizational boundaries and the
increasingly diverse labor forced management.
This study is basically assessing the perception of the professionals in the field of supply
management with regards to the factors which are mostly viewed as availing the necessary help
and ensuring that the challenges which are mostly encountered at work are effectively presented.
The leading issues pertaining to the presentation of the problem for the management of the
supply are; showing partiality to the suppliers which is a preference to the management, allowing
personalities to influence the decision of buying improperly, insufficiency of knowledge or the
skills to competently perform the duties, failure to make provision of high quality products and
services as eyed by the customer and failure to initiate honest responses to the inquiries made by
the customer. In their response to ethical issues at work, the supply managers face potential
challenges which might be a hindrance to the decision making process. The global competition
on individuals is predicted to become more intense in the future and it will put increasing
pressure on the firms and the managers as well as well as the individuals who make unethical
response to the issues which they encounter at the work places.
MANAGEMENT DIVERSITY 3
In the article titled challenges facing small – firm managers in growing manufacturing firms,
there are several issues that are clearly outlined. The challenges which the managers face while
managing the growing firms are effectively outlined and discussed. As the findings reveal, the
managers who are stationed in the small firms are usually engaged in a variety of activities.
However, a small number of these activities usually take the majority of the manager’s time.
Such activities in which the managers usually engage in can be classified as either operational or
administrative. A little time is spent by the managers on strategic work, inclusive of the group of
the fast growing firms. Probably, this could be an explanation of the growth and innovation
presenting a hell of work to the managers in such firms. This results from the failure to prioritize
the strategic work.
In the article that reveals the challenges faced by the supply managers and the solutions offered,
there are equally important facts that are outlined here. Behavior of the professionals, individual
attributes such as the moral values and the factors in the work environment are some of the
factors which usually influence the behavior of an individual in the work environment, making
him to perform to the negative or to the positive. Strong ethics programs and cultures plays very
critical roles in reducing the pressure and the many challenges that could cause an employee to
compromise personal or business standards to issues encountered at work.
The article discussing fresh challenges facing a manager presents a story of Stubbs as an
exemplary manager. With his management skills and leading his team to win multiple times,
stubs had the challenge of drug addiction and it cost him his life by succumbing to cancer.
MANAGEMENT DIVERSITY 4
From the discussion, an example in the bible which can best serve in this case is Moses who led
the Israelites from Egypt to the border of Canaan. At one time, he was so much concerned with
the judgment of the Israelites that he forgot to attend to his personal needs and the family. The
works equally was overwhelming and Jethro who was his father in – law advised him to appoint
other judges to help him with the work. The book of Numbers chapter 12 verses 3 states that,
“Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.”
The spirit of humility enabled Moses to lead the Israelites amidst challenges.
