Yoga is much more than performing postures but by doing so we cleanse the body quiet the mind and prepare for the experience of meditation. Be careful however not to think of meditation as rigid concept it is more like the ebb and flow of the ocean striving for a state of balance. Asana prepares you to be aware of this ebb and flow.
