This has also helped solve the problem of unemployment in the current society. Computers operate some of the industrial machines, and this then gives employment opportunities for those individuals with computer knowledge to run these machines. A majority of the youths have also been able to source for employment through legalized online jobs, which have proved to be of significant pay.

Apart from the aforementioned positive impacts of on the use of social media and technology, it also comes along with various tremendous adverse effects. Addiction is one, is a significant challenge of the use of social media and technology especially among the teenagers as well as young adults (Kim, Sin, & He, 2013). Currently, the habit is not only limited to the millennial generation but also to the adults from older ages because they are also embracing the use of social networks to keep connected to their friends and families who may be far from them due to jobs, schools and so on. In such scenarios, people tend to spend a lot of time that cannot be accounted for in the social sites thus distracts the attention for the particular chore as well as home duties and school assignments.

The continual use of social media and technology has also led to extreme moral decay. People have their differences since they are born and bred in different geographical settings. Before the further advancement of technology, morality and respect were appraises in the societies since it was a required norm (Kim, Sin, & He, 2013). The progress of technology has led to moral decadence in the sense that permissiveness in society has overridden the moral conducts. The overuse of social media and technology has also led to Family Breakups. The use of phones has promoted this, where unfaithfulness among the married couples through experience. No one in the family would want to trust the husband or the wife for fear of being cheated on. People opt to remain single if they are not married or have a divorce to stay at peace. Due to the use of social media, family members have lacked social forums where they can meet together and chat their way forward and have good times and memories as a family. It has been replaced by the social media because everybody absorbed in the social media either through the phone, television and just a few but to mention, thus leading to family breakups.

Finally, the use of social media and technology has promoted Unhealthy Sleep Patterns. Apart from the anxiety and depression that comes from the overuse of social media, spending much time on the same can also lead to poor sleep (Sheth, 2018). As people try to meet their deadlines for submission of the given assignment either in school or at the workplace, they tend to sacrifice sleep, thereby interfering with the sleep cycle. Several anxieties keep the brain on high alert, preventing an individual from sleep. Those people that sleep with phones next to them should know that the light from the phone always suppresses the release of melatonin hormone, which is responsible for sleep (Kim, Sin, & He, 2013). It makes an individual ever to feel tired.

In conclusion, just like a coin has two faces, so is social media has both advantages and disadvantages which directly or indirectly affects the society. It is therefore upon an individual who subscribes to the social media and technology to decide best on what he or she wants to be and be after using it. Remember that every choice made by an individual in his or her lifetime in the world has consequences that cannot felt. Therefore, one can choose whatever he or she wants basing the reasoning the factors as mentioned earlier.
