Rationale (Why conduct the study?)
The organizational culture in the petroleum industry affects the way the employees in
organization perform and plays and determines whether they will be satisfied with their jobs.
According to Fatima (2016), the type of culture an organization affects the performance of the
employees and in so doing it affects their job satisfaction. It is therefore essential to study
different ways in which the organizational culture may influence the performance of the people
in the organization. Business organizations are always looking for ways to improve the
performance of employees in the workplace since it is a prerequisite for success. The extent of
job satisfaction in the workplace is what determines whether prospective employees will be
attracted to a given company or not. The organizations that manage to attract the potential
employees are likely to hire better employees compared to the ones that do not have all that it
takes to attract the employees. The petroleum sector is very sensitive because of the nature of
fuel and chemicals that are being processed and sold. The volatile nature of the compounds
demands that the companies do their best in hiring the best employees available. According to
Fatima (2016) without an attractive organizational culture, a firm cannot attract the best
employees that will take the organization forward.
The hypothesis of the study
H 0 Organizational culture improves the performance and the job satisfaction of the employees.
H 1 Organization culture does not improve the performance and the job satisfaction of the

and the performance of the employees.

To find out the relationship between the performance of the employees and their
satisfaction in the workplace.
